In my quest to better understand my organization’s lack of search engine optimization, I realized that I needed to dig deeper. Clearly, I wasn’t going to get a lot of insight on our website ranking from the head of marketing, so I decided to take a look at our website design and try to figure out what we could do better to optimize our website. First, I visited Alexa to find out how many inlinks there are to my site; according to Alexa, there are only 70 sites linking in. For a consulting firm as big as ours (500+ employees and over $100 million dollars in business each year), this number is not anywhere near where it should be!
